On Saturday, September 28, 2024, over 45 UTeach Theatre students, alums, staff, and faculty gathered at the Magik Theatre in San Antonio, TX, for the World Premiere of Lyric and the Keys, a musical with Book by UTeach Fine Arts Associate Dean, Roxanne Schroeder-Arce and Music and Lyrics by DTYC Alum, Jenn Hartmann Luck. For many, this was a reunion for past and present UTeach Theatre students, and they had the opportunity to catch up and share about their careers as teachers. One alum in attendance, Carrington Quezada, UTeach Theatre 2020, said of the experience, “Getting to see friends and support the UTeach program was wonderful and made me proud to be a part of the program’s history.”

Summer Highlight: 2024 American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE) Conference: ROOTING CHANGE
On July 17-20th, UTeach Theatre Fine Arts faculty, students, and alumni traveled to Chicago, IL, to attend and present at the 2024 American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) conference. The AATE conference is a time for educators and theatre artists to network, discuss, and celebrate theatre in education.
Summer Highlight: Exploring the Arts, Exploring the Self Youth Summer Camp
The Exploring the Arts, Exploring the Self camp allowed youth to connect and learn about the arts disciplines. It occurred July 15-19, 2024, and comprised youth in grades second through fifth.
Under the guidance of Roxanne Schroeder-Arce, Associate Dean of UTeach Fine Arts, UTeach Theatre 2024 Alums Valeria Najera and Yobany Pizano, and UTeach Theatre student Daijha Mainor, the students explored art, music, dance, and theatre. Each day, the group engaged the arts to present and perform ideas of who they are as individuals and as a community.
