UTMRC’s leadership structure is based on the Incident Command System (ICS) model. Ideally, candidates would be highly motivated, passionate about preparedness and action, and excellent team players. Our goal is to have a multi-disciplinary leadership team to collaborate, adequately train our body of volunteers, and create sustainability within the organization.

Incident Commander/Unit Coordinator
Responsibilities: Set objectives and priorities for the incident; Establish an Incident Command Post; Ensure incident safety; Coordinate command and general staff activities; Approve resource requests; Approve the Incident Action Plan; Authorize information release to the media.

Responsibilities: Talks to media; Develops accurate, accessible, and timely information for use in press/media briefings; Obtains IC’s approval of news release; Monitors and forwards media information that may be useful to incident planning; Participates in planning meetings; Makes information about the incident available to key incident personnel
