The University of Texas Bands is internationally recognized as one of the premier collegiate band programs in the United States. Led by a team of five faculty members, the program consists of The University of Texas Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, and Symphony Band, as well as the Longhorn Band, Longhorn Pep Band, and Longhorn Concert Bands. Members of these ensembles include undergraduate and graduate students seeking degrees in music, as well as non-majors who wish to continue performing as a part of their college experience.
Texas Bands is also home to the Butler School of Music‘s graduate program in wind band conducting, led by Professor Jerry Junkin. Teachers and conductors demonstrating exceptional potential for future success in the wind conducting profession are invited to join a program that combines an immersive graduate education in music with the practical experience of teaching and managing a comprehensive university band program.
