Fall 2023 Academic Deadlines

College of Fine Arts undergraduate students can initiate all processes by contacting cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu with your EID and your particular request. Requests made after the deadline day will not be considered.
Thursday, August 24
- Fourth class day.
- Last day to ADD a course ONLINE.
To add after this date, students must go to the DEPT offering the course being ADDED.
Wednesday, September 6th
- Twelfth class day; this is the date the official enrollment count is taken.
- Last day to DROP a course ONLINE without college approval.

- After this date, students initiate ALL Q-DROPS in STUDENT AFFAIRS, and they do show up on student’s transcripts. Students have a total of six Q-drops while enrolled in UT Austin.

- Last day STUDENTS can ADD a course (via the DEPT) without needing to LATE ADD APPEAL approved by the Undergraduate Dean.
Monday, September 18th
- Twentieth class day.
- Last day to WITHDRAW from the Fall 2023 semester for a partial refund.
- After this date, students utilizing both academic and non-academic WITHDRAWALS will not receive a tuition refund.
Monday, October 23rd
- “Mid-semester Deadline”
- Last day to DROP a class via a Q-DROP via STUDENT AFFAIRS.

- After this date, students must utilize a ONE-TIME EXCEPTION DROP if they have not yet utilized one while at UT Austin.

- Last day to WITHDRAW from the Fall 2023 semester except for urgent and substantiated non-academic reasons.
- Last day to APPLY TO GRADUATE for an undergraduate degree in December.
- Last day a student may change registration to or from a PASS/FAIL
Monday, October 30 to Friday, November 10
- First registration period for the Spring 2024 semester.
Monday, December 4th
- Last class day.
- Last day to utilize a ONE-TIME EXCEPTION DROP if a student is able.
- Last day to WITHDRAW due to non-academic reasons.

- After this date, all DROPS and WITHDRAWALS from the Fall semester are considered RETROACTIVE and must be approved by the Dean and Registrar. Approval based on incapacity during deadline.

- Last day a student may ADD a course via a LATE ADD APPEAL approved by the Undergraduate Dean.
- Last day an undergraduate student may REGISTER in ABSENTIA (via STUDENT AFFAIRS).
