Drops, Pass/Fail, Withdrawals Late Adds From the 5th class day through the 12th class day of a fall or spring semester, departmental permission is required to add a course. Please contact the department offering a course directly to request a late add. From the 3rd class day through the 4th class day of a summer term, departmental permission is required to add a course. Please contact the department offering a course directly to request a late add. After the 4th class day, course adds will only be considered in extraordinary circumstances. If you are not registered for a class you have been attending and the 4th class day has passed, please contact our office via cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu immediately. Q-Drops Spring 2025 Deadline: April 16th @ 5pm If you are a current undergraduate in a College of Fine Arts degree major, please visit Texas One Stop’s Academic Q-Drops website to request a Q-drop. Students are allowed six Q-drops while at UT Austin. This request is non-reversible once approved. Pass/Fail Grading Status Change Spring 2025 Deadline: April 16th @ 5pm Please visit the Registration Change System to change a course to a pass/fail grading status. Please note: courses taken on the pass/fail basis apply toward degree requirements only as electives. Withdrawal (dropping to zero hours) Spring 2025 Deadline: April 16th @ 5pm Prior to the mid-semester deadline, students may withdraw for any reason. Please visit the Registration Change System to initiate the withdrawal. You will also be prompted to reach out to cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu to set up a one-on-one meeting with a Student Affairs staff member. Though their permission is not required to withdraw, they’ll review options, resources, and readmission items with you. One-Time Exception Drop Spring 2025 Deadline: April 28th @ 5pm The One-Time Exception (OTE) drop can only be used once while at UT Austin. The OTE gives the student the ability to drop a course through the last class day. Please visit Texas One Stop’s Academic Q-Drops website to submit an OTE request. Post-Deadline Withdrawals (dropping to zero hours) After the mid-semester deadline, students may withdraw only by using their OTE (see above) or obtaining approval for a medical withdrawal.
