Kidney Health: Eat Well, Live Well

Intervening early on Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) by supporting diet change.

  • Program: Kidney Health: Eat Well, Live Well
  • Population: Patients with early stage CKD (stages 2 & 3) from clinics in a county health system.
  • Partners: Harris Health System
  • Location: Houston, TX
    Question: Can a multi-pronged approach to supporting diet change in patients with early stage kidney disease (CKD 2 & 3) result in protecting against kidney injury?
  • Components: Health callers, produce delivery to homes, flexible grocery store cards
  • Outcomes: Albumin:creatinin ratio, other biomedical measures, mental health
  • Time Period (first results): 6 months
  • Results: Randomized trial, expected to start 2023
