Welcome to the Institute for Collaborative Health Research and Practice at the University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work.

The Institute for Collaborative Health Research and Practice is an academic-community partnership that brings together practice and research professionals to investigate and promote the health and well being of children, adults and families. The overarching goal of this collaborative initiative is to enhance and support individual and family survival.

Established at the School of Social Work in 2004, the Institute of Collaborative Health Research and Practice provides the infrastructure for bridging the gap between research and practice. The objectives are to develop and disseminate best practices in addressing the overarching influence health plays in the emotional and social wellness of individuals and families.

The Director of the Institute of Collaborative Health Research and Practice is Professor Barbara Jones, Ph.D. The Institute’s Associate Director is Clinical Assistant Professor Dede Sparks, LMSW.
