In November 2019 the Mexico Studio was awarded the “Student Project Award” by the Texas division of the American Planning Association. The award recognizes an outstanding class project that contributes to advances in the field of planning.
This video was created by APA-TX as an introduction to the work done by our studio and was played at the awards ceremony held in Waco, TX. It highlights the community-based and community-led planning processes of the La Campana neighborhood and our work as facilitators, catalysts, technical advisers, and, most importantly, teammates. What ultimately resulted from the co-designing and co-creating was the transformation of a debris-filled lot into an actively-used public space: “El Parque de los Niños”, completely owned by the members of La Campana themselves.
