Mia Carter
Mia Carter is a Regents and University Distinguished Teaching Associate Professor of English and the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in the College of Liberal Arts. She thanks Dr. Esther Melamed, the magnificent Sam Bazzi and his teaching team (Akshara, Chumeng, Kat, and Maisey), and all of the members of the art therapy group for their openness, generosity, and kindness. Kayla Carlough
Kayla is a new found drawing enthusiast who lives in Leander with her husband and sweet cocker spaniel. She’s a lover of healthy food, thrifting, board games, travel and being an aunt. Although illness has changed a lot about her life, Kayla has found joy and many blessings throughout a challenging health journey. Please check out her artwork below!
Becky Villarreal
Becky, an English teacher who lives in Cedar Park with her husband and two fur babies, is the proud mom of an aspiring artist with a master’s degree in art therapy. Since receiving medical treatment via UT Health, Becky feels increasingly optimistic that she will eventually recover from Long Covid. And as she continues to improve, she urges lawmakers to raise awareness about Long Covid and to fund desperately needed resources and research, so that those who suffer from Long Covid will never be left behind. Linda Thune
Linda Phillips Thune enjoys mo vies, theatre, writing, reading, holding babies, and taking pictures of her garden. She earned a B.A. in English from U.T. Austin and a Master’s Degree in Literature from Texas State University with great support from her husband and five daughters. Thanks to the Post-Covid Art Program, another journey has begun.
