Stroller Study

How do touch and looking work together while infants ride in a stroller?
This 25-30 minute in-person study invites infants (ages 6-30 months) to sit in a stroller while their caregiver walks down an indoor hallway and pauses for a short period. Some children may be offered light eye tracking glasses to see where they look, though the visit can continue without them.

Object Manipulation Study

How do surface texture and sound shape how infants handle a ball?
This 25-30 minute study invites infants (ages 6-18 months) to sit in a high chair and play with small balls on different surfaces. To measure arm movement, we place tiny reflective markers on the skin of the upper arm, wrist, and hand using skin safe medical tape. Infants may wear headphones while they play. A caregiver is present at all times.

How do young children shape their hands during everyday actions?
This 25-30 minute in-person study focuses on children (ages 18 months to 6 years). Children play with simple toys and complete different tasks. Our goal is to capture clear hand poses and see how grasp shape changes across actions to support ongoing method development with our collaborators. A caregiver may be present throughout the visit.

All studies are in person at UT Austin. Parking is covered. Families receive a $25 gift card (per child) to help with travel costs. Children receive stickers and a lab t-shirt as a thank you.
