Our paper on “Suspended, Polarization-Dependent, Subwavelength-Perforated Metal Absorber for Mid-Infrared Bolometry” is published in Nano Letters. A collaboration with the Povinelli group at USC, led by Silvia Guadagnini and UT Mid-IR Research Associate Zarko Sakotic, we show strong, polarization-dependent absorption in perforated ultra-thin membranes. This work was funded by the… read more

Felix awarded REU Mentor Prize
UT Mid-IR Graduate Student Felix Estevez was awarded the REU Mentoring prize at the wrap-up lunch for the CDCM REU program this year. Felix worked with Oneida Moreno, from Northern Arizona University, on a system to measure surface recombination in narrow band-gap materials. Congratulations to Felix!!
Resonant Pixel manuscript published in Optics Express
Our work, Lateral cavity-enhanced guided mode resonance structures for mid-wave infrared photodetector pixels, describing a resonant pixel architecture for enhanced absorption in finite-sized guided mode resonance mid-wave infrared detector pixels is published in OpEx. This work was a collaboration with the Podolskiy Group at UMass Lowell, and was led by… read more
