Join us for our fall kick off of The Futures Initiative, a program highlighting how studying humanities and social sciences prepares students for public and professional lives of purpose.

This month we’re excited to welcome Ana López. Ana is a native Austinite and proud 2019 graduate of the Plan II Honors Program. Nearly the entirety of Ana’s college career centered around gun violence prevention activism– she co-founded Students Against Campus Carry in the wake of the passage of SB11 and went on to help organize a massive protest on UT grounds. You may have seen her advocacy featured on the Daily Show! Ana has worked for Lloyd Doggett, James Talarico, Julie Oliver, and, most recently, Civitech. Only a couple months ago did she diverge from her political streak to join the team at Airtable, a pre-IPO company with a new Austin HQ. Learn why Ana calls herself an “accidental activist” and hear her thoughts on making your voice heard and bringing your authentic self to work.

This month’s session will be in person! There will be free food, and we’ll be giving out free College of Liberal Arts swag! You’ll also get a chance to see our new poster series highlighting the important work of Liberal Arts Longhorns!
