Scholarship Information Sessions hosted by ODPS

Attention juniors and seniors! The ODPS is hosting information sessions for two prestigious national scholarships for graduate or professional studies.

Truman Scholarship Information Session: September 23, 2021, at 5pm CT

The Harry S. Truman Scholarship provides up to $30,000 in funding towards a public service-related graduate or professional degree to students who aspire to work in a public service career. Public service, defined by the foundation, includes employment in government at any level, uniformed services, public-interest organizations, nongovernmental research and/or educational organizations, public and private schools, and public service-oriented nonprofit organizations. Eligible students must be a junior, graduating in 2022-23, OR, a senior, graduating early (3 years or less) in 2021-22. Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans Virtual Information Session for University of Texas Students: October 7, 2021 at 11:30 am CT

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is a $90,000 fellowship for immigrants and children of immigrants who are pursuing any type of fulltime professional or graduate school in the United States. Each year, the program awards 30 fellowships to individuals who show promise of future significant contribution. Fellows not only receive financial support during graduate school, but they also join a lifelong community of New Americans. Learn more at www.pdsoros.org. The Fellowship is open to future lawyers, architects, healthcare and public health professionals, CEOs engineers, entrepreneurs, educators, professors, musicians, writers, journalists, researchers, scientists, and more!

MEC Fall 2021 Workshop Series

The Multicultural Engagement Center at the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement is excited to announce the launching of our fall workshop series. This series is open to all students who aspire to further their individual growth, better connect with their peers, and ultimately create a more inclusive campus culture. 

The workshops will be held in person at the William C. Powers (WCP) building, room 1.102. Students can sign up for the workshop(s) here! Space is limited for safety precautions and masks are strongly encouraged. 

 

Power and Privilege: Moving from Awareness to Action (10/6/21, 4-5 PM) 

In this workshop, students reflect on and identify their own privilege(s) and explore various ways that they can use privilege to activate change. 

 Microaggressions: Understanding Impacts of Our Words and Actions (10/20/21, 4-5 PM) 

In this workshop, students learn to define microaggressions, understand their impact, and learn ways to respond and support their peers.  

Recognizing Implicit Bias (11/3/21, 4-5 PM) 

In this workshop, students learn about where biases come from and how they can increase mindfulness and equity within their practices and social spaces.

Poetry on the Pond

You’re invited to an evening of restoration and renewal at the UT Turtle Pond! Join us for a twilight poetry event as we commemorate the pandemic experience and look forward to the post-pandemic growth of campus life.

Poetry on the Pond will be held on Wednesday, September 29th at 6pm at the UT Turtle Pond on the north side of the Tower. Light refreshments will be served, and we’ll be handing out limited-edition waterproof stickers for occasion. We can’t wait to see you there! Click here to RSVP.
