We cordially invite you to join us this Sunday, November 21 at 4:00 p.m. CST in Bates Recital Hall as The University of Texas Wind Ensemble presents their third concert of the 2021-2022 season. The program will feature works by Franz Krommer, Dimitri Shostakovich, Aram Khachaturian and Karel Husa.
The concert will open with Franz Krommer’s Octet: Partita in F, op. 57, for wind octet plus double bass. Following the Krommer, doctoral conducting assistant Drew Eary will conduct Dmitri Shostakovich’s Festive Overture, in Donald Hunsberger’s transcription. Aram Khachaturian’s beautiful “Adagio and Phrygia” from Spartacus will be performed, in a new transcription by Jacco Nefs. The concert will conclude with a performance of Karel Husa’s landmark work, Music for Prague 1968 in the centennial year of Husa’s birth.
