Mexico–USA Workshop: Formal and Informal Systems of Support in Mexico and the U.S. in the Context of Health and Welfare Reform
A bridging conference in Mexico will develop a policy framework and methodology for transforming long-term care for frail and vulnerable elders. Building from the international workshop: “Social Support for Older Adults” in Mexico, D.F. the 2015 ICAA meeting will focus on a comparative framework for investigating the sustainability of health and support systems for two nations growing old: Mexico and the U.S., with a special emphasis on the Latino population in the U.S.A. The challenges and opportunities for change will be identified. The ultimate goal is to pinpoint concrete ways to strengthen capacity building of caregiving systems for Latino families and communities and to create a policy research agenda for research, practice, and post-doctoral training.
