Intern Scholarship Intern Scholarship COFA Career Services is pleased to announce two intern scholarship funds: The Meredith and Cornelia Long Internship Fund and the Becker Intern Scholarship. These need-based scholarships offer undergraduate and graduate fine arts majors the opportunity to professionalize their artistic and entrepreneurial ambitions. Students must demonstrate significant financial need in order to receive a scholarship. Students may apply for up to $2,000 of funding to support their internship experience. Students who are interning outside of Texas may request an additional $1000 in funding (up to $3000 total). Remote internships do not qualify for additional funding requests. Deadlines Applications are reviewed three times a year: on May 1, August 15, and December 1. Fall semester applications are due August 15. Spring semester applications are due December 1. Summer semester applications are due May 1. The COFA Career Services team will respond to all applicants within two weeks of application deadlines. If awarded funding, UT typically will disburse funding to students within a month of the application deadline. Depending on each student’s financial institution, additional processing time will occur before the funds reach bank accounts. Eligibility Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student with a major in COFA. Applicant must demonstrate financial need. Applicant must have identified an acceptable internship. Students do not have to have an internship secured at the time of the scholarship application. Students may apply with in-person or remote/virtual internships. Student teaching positions are not eligible for the Intern Scholarship. Internships requiring the student to pay a fee to participate are not eligible for the Intern Scholarship. Students attending UTNY who have received the COFA UTNY scholarship are not eligible for the Intern Scholarship in the same semester. Student who have been accepted into the COFA Arts Administration Fellowship program are not eligible for the Intern Scholarship. Students may only receive the Intern Scholarship once during their time at UT. Off-campus internships are highly encouraged and will receive funding priority. Application Details FINE ARTS INTERN SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION As part of the application, students will be asked to: Upload an updated resume Upload a completed budget form (template also linked in application) Write a 250-300 word statement demonstrating the opportunity’s professional significance, and a 250-300 word statement demonstrating the student’s financial need Statements that are under the word count will be disqualified. Students who are awarded a scholarship must: Provide written documentation of an offer from the employer. Complete at least 150 hours of internship work hours during the funded semester. Enroll in an approved fine arts internship course*: FA 340/640/940 or UTLA/UTNY internship course—and successfully complete all assignments.
