Samanvita Kasibhatla

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Samanvita is a Chemical Engineering student and undergraduate research assistant advised by Dr. Shahbazi, excited to explore novel nuclear energy technologies to secure a sustainable future. She loves investigating sophisticated systems, such as exploring potential off-gas system technologies and chemical separations techniques for molten salt reactors. She’s interested in gaining exposure to atomistic simulation methods, chemical transport and kinetics, fission product dynamics, and process design for nuclear chemical systems.

Arturo Pedraza Flores

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Arturo is an undergraduate research assistant currently under the guidance of Dr. Branko Kovacevic and Dr. Shayan Shahbazi. He is pursuing a BS in Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Nuclear Engineering. Since the start of his undergraduate studies, he has been involved in nuclear engineering research by leading the development of a patent-pending prototype pump for molten salt loop operation. Currently, he is working on reactor physics simulations using OpenMC in support of the design of the LONESTAR irradiated molten salt loop. His research interests include process design, nuclear engineering, AI and machine learning, and research & development of novel technologies.
