Our high sensitivity soft pressure sensor is featured on the cover of Advanced Materials

Low sensitivity at large pressure has been a long-lasting obstacle of capacitive pressure sensors. Our paper “Highly Sensitive Capacitive Pressure Sensors over a Wide Pressure Range Enabled by the Hybrid Responses of a Highly Porous Nanocomposite” introduces a hybrid-response pressure sensor (HRPS), which offers a promising solution to this challenge. By laminating an electrically conductive porous nanocomposite (PNC) with an ultrathin insulating layer, the combined piezoresistivity and piezocapacitivity of PNC enable up to 423% improvement over existing sensors.
