Andy’s paper, “Sapphire nanophotonics: Fabrication challenges and optical properties” was published in Micro and Nano Engineering. Congratulations!
Rachel was selected to receive the Undergraduate Research Fellowship for her work on the hierarchical nanophotonic structures by the Office of Undergraduate Research at UT Austin. Congratulations!
I-Te has successfully defended his PhD thesis work on “Large Scale Manufacturing of Three Dimensional Nanostructures and Their Applications.” Special thanks to I-Te’s Doctoral Committee members Roger Bonnecaze, Li Shi, and Tanya Hutter. I-Te will be joining Applied Materials in CA. Congratulations Dr Chen!
Jeffrey’s journal paper “Virtual metrology modeling of reactive ion etching based on statistics-based and dynamics-inspired spectral features” was published in Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B. Congratulations!
I-Te’s journal paper “Fabrication of Non-Uniform Nanolattices with Spatially Varying Geometry and Material Composition” was published in Advanced Materials Interfaces. The work was featured in the journal cover. Congratulations!
Read about our recent collaboration with Dr Stephen Furst and Dr Nichole Cates at Smart Materials Solutions on “keeping clean on the moon.” This work is funded by a NASA Phase I SBIR Grant.
Andy’s collaboration work with Prof. Franky So at NC State University titled, “Light extraction in tandem organic light emitting diodes,” was published as a Perspective in the journal Applied Physics Letters. Congratulations!
I-Te’s collaboration work with Prof. Mark Schvartzman at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev titled, “Templated Assembly of Nanoparticles into Continuous Arrays” was published in the journal Langmuir. Congratulations!
In typically Austin summer tradition, the group bid farewell to Fred and Andy by kayaking at Lady Bird Lake. Fred and Andy will not have to say goodbye to each other though, since they will both be joining Applied Materials. Best of luck and come visit often!
Andy has successfully defended his PhD thesis work on “Antireflection Nanostructures at Material Interfaces for Enhancement of Optical Properties.” Special thanks to Andy’s Doctoral Committee members Adela Ben-Yakar, Daniel Wasserman, and SV Sreenivasan. Congratulations Dr Chen!
Fred won Honorable Mention for his micrograph entitled “Twisted Micro-Octopus” at the 64th International Conference on Electron, Ion, and Photon Beam Technology and Nanofabrication. Congratulations!
Chang Group attends the 64th International Conference on Electron, Ion, and Photon Beam Technology and Nanofabrication (EIPBN) held virtually. I-Te presented a talk on non-uniform nano lattice structures and Kun-Chieh presented a talk on data-driven optical metrology of nanostructure etching, and Fred, Andy, and Saurav each presented their posters on magnetically tunable structure, sapphire nanostructures, and assembly of non-monodispersed nanoparticles. Congratulations everybody!
Fred has successfully defended his PhD thesis work on “Magnetically Responsive Dynamic Nanostructures.” Special thanks to Fred’s Doctoral Committee members Edward Yu, Yuebing Zheng, and SV Sreenivasan. Congratulations Dr Luo!
Chi gave an Invited Talk on “Engineering Bio-Improved Multifunctional Nanostructures” at PittCon 2021, held virtually this year. Special thanks to Dr Kerrick Dando for the invitation and organizing the session on Nature Inspired Material Science.
