Longhorn Concert Band

Longhorn Band is a year-long commitment. The spring semester is the concert band season for the LHB. All students in LHB are required to participate in the spring semester. Musicians not part of LHB are encouraged and welcome to audition for performance opportunities during the spring.

  • Longhorn Pep Band does NOT meet the LHB Spring concert requirement (see approved courses below).
  • Both music majors and non-music majors in LHB can receive credit for fulfilling this requirement through these large ensembles in addition to the Longhorn Concert Bands (Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and Symphony Band) participation in the spring.

Auditions for all groups will take place during the first week of the spring semester. The audition materials will be posted during the last week of the holiday break. Results will be emailed to everyone who registers for auditions.

Longhorn Concert Band Spring 2026 Audition Materials:

  • Will be released in December 2025

Wind Players:

  • Prepare the included solo excerpt, video yourself playing it, and upload it as an UNLISTED YouTube video. (similar to pass offs)
  • Once it is uploaded, please submit the above Google form with the requested information. It is extremely important that you let us know your schedule availability so that we can assign you to a concert band as needed. If only one specific day fits into your course schedule, that’s fine – please indicate that on the Google form.
  • For this semester, we are also allowing the LHCB auditions to count for Symphony Band as well. So, if you are interested in auditioning for symphony band, please indicate as such.
  • Our first class meetings will be on Monday, January 22nd and Tuesday, January 23rd, depending on the ensemble for which you are assigned.

Percussionists:

  • More details will come from Reese regarding percussion auditions/placement.
