The American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) invites applications for an open rank tenure-track position in the Department of Politics and European Studies. The successful candidate will be a broadly trained political scientist with a track record in teaching and research in European politics. Ideally, the candidate would also be able to teach courses in political institutions, the development of the liberal-democratic state, and/or public policy, including introductory-level courses.
The teaching load is six course sections per academic year. Early career academics are especially encouraged to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess the following:
a. Ph.D. by the time of appointment (or ABD with a designated date of completion before 1 September 2025) in political science or a related field;
b. Experience teaching college-level political science courses in English;
c. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching;
d. Research publications commensurate with experience;
e. Teaching experience in a liberal arts environment or willingness to adapt to the American liberal arts style of teaching;
f. A collegial attitude;
g. A willingness to engage in university service and extracurricular activities (e.g., internships, civic engagement, and student events).
