Texas Drums Auditions Thank you for your interest in joining LHB and Texas Drums! Below you will find information regarding audition requirements, dates, and more. Summer Drum Camp Dates: TBA Live Audition Dates: TBA Pre-Screen Video Audition Requirements All prospective and returning members are required to submit a pre-screen video audition. Submit your pre-screen video audition when you complete the Longhorn Band Interest Form. The priority deadline for submission is June 1 by 11:59pm. June 30 is the final day video submissions will be accepted—though preference will be given to those who submit by the priority deadline. Results from this round will be sent out at a date to be determined, which will include the rest of the audition material (Exercise packet, cadences, traditionals, etc.) for the live audition. Video Audition Guidelines: When submitting your video, designate all instruments for wish to be considered. Your evaluation will be based upon: Timing Rhythmic accuracy Quality of sound Technique Strength / chops Reading Attendance Commitment level / attitude Required Video Audition Materials: Please prepare your own exercises demonstrating: 8’s Accent Tap Double beat Triple beat Basic duplet and triplet timing exercises Basic diddle and roll exercises (duple & triplet based) Basic flam accent and flam tap exercise Quads please play an around for each exercise Cymbals please record any three exercise from the following packet: Cymbal Packet Video Requirements: Please upload your audition video to YouTube (or another cloud service) with either a public or unlisted publishing setting (NOT private, please). Please make sure hands, playing surfaces, and feet are clearly visible. Bass drums: angle your position so that the right-side drumhead is facing the camera Drums are preferable to pads, though it will not negatively affect your results if you do not have access to an instrument. An audible metronome is required during playback. Mark time for every exercise. Individual takes of each exercise are acceptable, as long as it is part of one whole video. Bass Drums and Cymbals: Select one part for the entirety of the video, please do not switch from exercise to exercise (still playing all unisons and splits accordingly). Memorization is preferred, but not required. (Memorization is required for the live audition). Live Audition Information: TBA
