Annual program assessment for all degrees offered at the University of Texas is overseen by the Office of Strategic Academic Initiatives (SAI). The College of Fine Arts must comply with institutional requirements established by the University, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
Additionally, the University of Texas is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD) and the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), which require extensive reporting.
Assessment, at its core, involves faculty engagement and departmental support. The language and structuring of assessment, however, can be confusing for those being asked to provide assessment data.
The COFA Senior Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Accreditation provides coordination and guidance for all assessment and accreditation requirements of programs within the College of Fine Arts and centralize helpful information on the COFA website.
Departmental SACSCOC assessment contacts are:
Clarissa Smith (Theatre & Dance)
Jeff Williams (Art & Art History)
Daniel Seriff (Butler School of Music)
Cameron Weed (School of Design and Creative Technologies)
