Job: Summer Russian Instructor (Pitt SLI)

Russian Instructor Slavic Languages & Literatures – Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh – (21000049)  

The Slavic, East European and Near Eastern Summer Language Institute (SLI) at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures seeks instructors of Russian for the summer of 2021.

Instructors will teach an 8-week intensive course during SLI’s summer session, which runs from June 7-July 30. Classes meet five days a week from 9am-2:50pm. In additional to classroom teaching, instructors are expected to help plan cultural programming for their language program and attend events for the whole institute, such as film and lecture series, workshops, and picnics. Instructors may be asked to team teach. SLI expects that our programs will be conducted in an in-person format on the main campus the University of Pittsburgh, with the added option for students to participate synchronously online. If gathering on campus is prohibited in connection with COVID-19 mitigation, instructors will teach online synchronously via Zoom.

Applicants must have a master’s degree in the language they will teach or related field and experience teaching in a college or university setting using the communicative approach or other proficiency-based methods.
