In honor of the Bicentennial of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky’s birth, the 150th anniversary of the novel Demons (Devils or The Possessed), the 50th anniversary of The International Dostoevsky Society (IDS), and the XVIIIth Symposium of the IDS, planned for 22-27 August 2022 in Nagoya, Japan, the IDS announces an international video competition, open to filmmakers worldwide.
DETAILS
Video in any genre relating to Dostoevsky’s novel Demons
Video length must be under 5 minutes
Videos should be in one of the official languages of the 2022 Symposium: Japanese, English, or Russian, or should be submitted with subtitles in one of these languages. Or the video can be without words.
JURY: IDS Board of Directors and invited specialists
Submit under-5-minute videos via a YouTube or Vimeo link, password-protected, and providing the password, along with other information using the Submission Form, to dostoevsky-studies@ateneo.univr.it by 31 March 2022
Deadline for submissions: 31 March 2022
Winner announced by 1 May 2022
- PRIZES
- Total cash prizes of US $2000; $1000 to the winner with the rest divided up between two or more runners-up
- New editions of books by Dostoevsky
- One-year membership in IDS
- Certificate of honor
- Video premieres at the Symposium
- The winning video and the runners-up will be posted on the IDS YouTube channel and will be publicized widely around the world
