The Embassy of the Czech Republic welcomes applicants for the two-month-long Masaryk Diplomatic Program (MDP), designed for American university students as well as recent graduates interested in diplomacy, transatlantic relations, and U.S. relations with the Czech Republic. The application deadline is March 20, 2022.
The program consists of a series of workshops led by diplomats of the Czech Embassy in Washington and in the preparation and presentation of projects that will help deepen Czech-American relations and mutual cooperation. All of the workshops will be held on Thursdays at 4 pm.
When preparing projects in the form of a short essay, MDP participants will cooperate with selected mentors, from the embassy, or Czech experts, who will voluntarily participate in the project.
To apply, please send your CV and brief motivational letter to czechembassydc@gmail.com. In the motivation letter, please state what is the specific topic you choose. The deadline for the application submission is March 20, 2022. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
MDP applicants will present the results of their work:
● in person during the thematic evening at the embassy / online in case of impossibility to hold an in-person event
● Essays / presentations will also be available on the Washington Embassy website
Admission criteria:
● US citizenship
● University student or recent graduate (max. 1 year)
● Selected for the MDP program on the basis of the application, including a motivation letter explaining what topic and why the candidate is going to process within the MDP

ABOUT TOMÁŠ GARRIGUE MASARYK
Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk (March 7, 1850 – September 14, 1937), was a Czechoslovak politician, sociologist and philosopher, who as an eager advocate of Czechoslovak independence during World War I, became the founder and first President of Czechoslovakia, and thus referred to as “President liberator.” U.S. President Woodrow Wilson served as a friend and advisor to founding father President Tomáš G. Masaryk in regards to the creation of an independent and democratic Czechoslovakia following World War I. Masaryk also had ties to the U.S. as his wife Charlotte Garrigue Masaryk was an American.
