Deadline: June 15, 2025
We are pleased to invite chapter proposals for an edited volume tentatively titled Corpus Linguistics in Russian Language Learning and Teaching, to be proposed for publication in the Routledge Russian Language Pedagogy and Research series.
This volume aims to bring together scholars and practitioners engaged in the study and teaching of Russian as a second (L2) and heritage (HL) language, with a focus on corpus-based approaches. We seek contributions that examine the use of various corpora in language teaching, curriculum development, assessment, materials design, and teacher training. The volume will highlight how authentic language data can inform pedagogical innovation and bridge the gap between linguistic research and instructional practice.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Use of authentic/reference corpora in teaching, curriculum development, and materials design
- Profiling of L2 and HL learners using corpus tools
- Error analysis in learner corpora
- Development and use of specialized subcorpora (e.g., business Russian)
- Integration of corpus-based activities into the classroom
- Corpus-informed teacher education and professional development
- Corpus-based tools, aimed at teaching purposes
The primary objectives of the volume are to:
• illuminate how corpus-based insights into learner language can inform syllabus design, task sequencing, and feedback practices for both L2 and HL students;
• demonstrate the creation and instructional application of targeted corpora (e.g., HL discourse collections, academic writing samples);
• provide methodological guidelines, lesson templates, and corpus tools to support classroom practice.
If you are interested in contributing, please send a brief expression of interest by June 15, 2025. Draft chapters will be TENTATIVELY expected by October 2025.
For any questions or preliminary discussions, feel free to reach out.Warm regards,
