Funding: American Councils Summer Internship Program—Business, Technology, and Innovation Scholarships (Moscow)

American Councils is pleased to announce that the Business, Technology, and Innovation (BTI) Scholarship offers travel, lodging, and tuition support for U.S. students participating in an American Councils summer internship program in Moscow for Summer 2019.

On the program, student interns:

  • Work, live, and study in one of the world’s most economically powerful cities
  • Gain real-world skills demanded by employers
  • Make their resumes stand out
  • Get job experience through an 8-week internship at a startup
  • Explore a career path in business consulting, marketing, technology, and more
  • Earn 4-5 credits in intercultural communication

ELIGIBILITY

U.S. undergraduate and graduate students interested in business, innovation, or STEM fields are eligible to apply for scholarships of $3,000-5,000. Awards are made on the basis of financial need, compatibility, and academic merit. No prior study of Russian is required.

Funding: HI USA Explore the World Travel Scholarship

Hostelling International is offering five $2,000 travel scholarship exclusively for Austin area residents!

The program is called Explore the World, and it’s administered by the nonprofit organization, Hostelling International USA (HI USA). HI USA is committed to creating a more tolerant world, and these scholarships are for young travelers inspired to make the world a better place, but lack the financial means to go abroad.

The scholarship is open to individuals, ages 18-30, who will engage in an educational or service learning component during their trip.  Eligible candidates must also meet specific financial need requirements. More information can be found at www.hiusa.org/travel-scholarships.

Travel: Summer Intensive Rusyn Lang/Lit (Presov, Slovakia)

The Carpatho-Rusyn Research Center affiliate of ASEEES announces the 10th Annual Studium Carpato-Ruthenorum International Summer School for Rusyn Language and Literature at Prešov University in Prešov, Slovakia, from June 9-29, 2019. Intensive simultaneous and intensive classes are given in English and in Rusyn on Carpatho-Rusyn history, folklore, and language.

Participants enjoy excursions to villages in the Carpathian region, workshops in folksong and folk dance, and visits to the Alexander Dukhnovych Theater and the Rusyn Museum in Prešov. All of this, including housing in a student dorm and daily meals are covered in the cost of $1600. Some financial aid may be available for students registered in North American colleges and universities.

American Councils for International Education is now accepting applications for its summer 2019 internship program in Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia. No foreign language experience is required for this program.

Dates: June 12 – August 11, 2019 (8 weeks)

Funding: Intern/Scholarship Russia (Russian Folklore Friends)

Deadline for Applications: February 10, 2019

Scholarships

Scholarship applications are now being accepted for students, teachers and academics to join folklore expeditions to Russia, Siberia and the Russian Altai region.

Expeditions are led by respected Russian scholars with years of experience in the field. Scholarship recipients and other volunteers join in the work of the expedition – conducting interviews, making video and audio recordings, and processing the collected field materials. Research team members live in rural villages, immersed in local customs and language.  Fluency in Russian is helpful, but not required.

The $1500 AFRF scholarship, or the $1000 K12 Teacher scholarships, may be applied to any of the six expeditions scheduled for July, August and October 2019.  For details, please visit

Funding: Diversity Scholarship (American Councils)

AC Study Abroad is pleased to announce new Presidential Diversity Scholarships for their Summer 2019 study abroad programs! These awards are intended to help students from traditionally under-represented backgrounds go abroad by covering the program costs of tuition, room & board, health insurance, cultural activities & excursions, and visa support.

In addition to the three Presidential Diversity Scholarships, offered in the fixed amount of $3,000 each, American Councils will also award smaller Diversity Scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500. These are available on all American Councils Summer 2019 programs. Applications to this scholarship and all AC Summer 2019 study abroad programs are due by February 15, 2019.

Funding: Cohen-Tucker Dissertation Fellowships (ASEEES)

ASEEES is accepting applications for two dissertation research fellowships!

Established in 2015, the Cohen-Tucker Dissertation Research Fellowships provide a maximum stipend of $25,000 for doctoral students at US and Canadian universities, who are citizens or permanent residents of the US, to conduct dissertation research in Russia. The Program is open to students in any discipline whose dissertation topics are within 19th – early 21st century Russian historical studies.

Travel: Internship at “Cosmopolitan” Camp (Novosibirsk)

Educational Center “Cosmopolitan”, Novosibirsk, Russia, is accepting applications for summer internship programs in Novosibirsk and in the Altai Mountains area.

Summer Internships at children’s camps run from mid-June until mid-July 2019, in the delightful countryside just outside Novosibirsk and in the beautiful Altai Mountains area. For the Altai Mountains session there is an exciting excursion and tourist program that comprises many exciting tourist activities such as rafting, horseback riding, hiking, camping, excursions.
