Acad. Job: Assistant Professor (TT) Central, EE Language and Culture

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Central and/or Eastern European Literature and Culture with an expected start date of July 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. We seek a scholar specializing in any Slavic language and culture of the region, whose work has the potential to transcend the regional and disciplinary boundaries of Slavic Studies and to speak to issues that intersect with humanistic inquiry in other areas of the world and other linguistic and cultural traditions. The selected candidate will pursue their own research agenda, collaborate with faculty in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures and other areas of the Division of the Arts & Humanities and University, and teach in both the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. The teaching load for tenure-track positions is typically four courses per year on the quarter system. Additional responsibilities include advising at all levels of the program, and service on departmental and university committees.

WGCTV Graduate Student Travel Grant for ASEEES 2025

In 2025, the Working Group on Cinema and Television (WGCTV) is committed to subsidizing graduate students working in film and media studies who are attending the ASEEES convention for the first time or who have no local institutional resources for travel support. We anticipate that we will be able to fund, on a competitive basis, 3 awards of $300 each.

Eligibility

  • MA and PhD students from all backgrounds working in film and media studies at any college or university
  • Applicants must be session participants (panel, roundtable, or lightning round) in the convention program to apply.
  • Recipients of a Graduate Student Travel Grant cannot receive the WGCTV grant for the same convention.

Interdisciplinary Fellowship at The Met for Post-MAs and Above

The Interdisciplinary Fellowship supports scholars whose projects lie at the intersection of various disciplines and methodologies. It encourages cross-departmental projects that explore connections between various cultures and Met collections, bridging the visual arts and other disciplines in the humanities and sciences.

Interdisciplinary fellows hail from a wide range of fields including anthropology, archaeology, critical theory, education, ethnic studies, film studies, gender studies, history, linguistics, literature, media studies, medicine, musicology, performance, philosophy, political science, psychology, religious studies, and sociology.

Dickinson College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment in the Department of Russian at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2026. Specialization is open to any area of Russian or Russophone literature, film and media, and culture broadly construed; candidates with additional areas of expertise, including regional and disciplinary, will be especially attractive. The teaching load is five undergraduate courses over two semesters, which includes a mix of content courses in English and language teaching in Russian at all levels. Alongside contributing to the college’s liberal arts curriculum, all Dickinson faculty contribute to the interdisciplinary first-year seminar program once per sabbatical cycle.

CFP: Contemporary Political Myth and Reality in Eurasia (University of Texas at Austin)

The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian StudiesClements Center for National Security, and Department of Government are pleased to announce a joint conference on Contemporary Political Myth and Reality in Eurasia, taking place February 12-13, 2026, at UT Austin.

Eurasian states face mounting challenges amid growing polarization, gaps between social needs and political responses, and disinformation blurring myth and reality. Further, Eurasian states face additional pressures from a legacy of authoritarian rule, active conflict and irredentism, and political mobilization of social divisions across the region. Yet Eurasian countries also have unique strengths in navigating these challenges, with strong national identities, robust civic engagement, bursts of democratic progress, and deep cultural traditions.

CFP: Literatures & Linguistics Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference (Florida State, Tallahassee)

We are accepting proposals for our upcoming Literatures & Linguistics Interdisciplinary (LINC) Graduate Conference on “Beyond Fracture: Reimagining Futures through Divergence and Convergence: Constructing New Paths Across Division, Resistance, and Solidarity. 

The conference isscheduled for March 5-6, 2026 at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL. Organized by graduate students, this interdisciplinary conference will provide a space to discuss divergence and convergence as tools for imagining and reimagining the future across fields, including literature, linguistics, cultural studies, history, gender and sexuality studies, and others.

This year’s theme, “Beyond Fracture: Reimagining Futures through Divergence and Convergence,” invites participants to examine ways that we can chart directions for the future. We welcome submissions that reflect a diverse range of interests, from linguistic analysis to cultural studies and literary exploration.

Since 1933 the APS has awarded small grants to scholars in order to support the cost of research leading to publication in all areas of knowledge. In 2024–2025 the Franklin Research Grants program awarded nearly $675,000 to more than 100 scholars, and the Society expects to make a similar number of awards in this year’s competition.
