Acad. Job: Assistant Professor of Russian Studies (Dartmouth College)

The Department of Russian at Dartmouth College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Russian Studies, to begin July 1, 2022. We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in post-Soviet and contemporary literature, language, and culture; with a focus on the non-Russian cultures of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe; or on ethnicity/nationality/race in the former Soviet bloc. Qualified candidates must have a Ph. D. in Slavic languages and literatures or a related field at the start of appointment; native or near-native fluency in Russian and English; and the ability to teach language at all levels.  In addition to specialized courses that reflect their research interests, the person in this position will also be expected to teach core courses in Russian literature and culture and to lead the joint (with the Government Department and the Irving Energy Institute) Foreign Study Program to Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Irkutsk. Faculty are also expected to be actively involved in contributing to the vital intellectual and extracurricular life of the department. Acad. Job: Web Collection Librarian, Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation (Columbia University)

Working on behalf of the Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation (IPLC), https://ivpluslibraries.org/, the Web Collection Librarian coordinates the IPLC Web Collecting Program, a collaborative collection development effort to build curated, thematic collections of freely available but at-risk web content in order to support research at participating Libraries and beyond.

The Web Collection Librarian will perform the operational work of maintaining and growing the existing 30 collaborative IPLC thematic web collections and building new web collections–including web harvesting, website owner notifications, quality assurance, description and organization, disclosure, assessment, preservation, and outreach for public use–while working closely with IPLC stakeholders to help coordinate the collaborative Program. The ideal candidate is a focused and detail-oriented information professional with outstanding communication skills and demonstrated experience with collaboration, equally suited and committed to in-depth web collection building and high-profile collaborative outreach with IPLC participants and the research library community.

Social Media Intern (SRAS)

Although fighting in the European theatre of World War II officially ended in May 1945, for millions of displaced and homeless individuals the struggle had only begun. Large groups of ethnic minorities were subjected to resettlement policies that uprooted them from their former homes. Others, mainly from Eastern Europe, fought against repatriation to their countries of origin. At the same time, Allied occupiers and new governments across the continent began to rethink what sovereignty might look like after the war. In the decades to come, new states and citizens would contest the very bounds of belonging in the postwar world.

Acad. Job: Assistant Professor Russian Literature/Cultural Studies (University of Chicago)

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Chicago is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a multidisciplinary approach to Russian literary/cultural studies. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to connect with faculty, staff, and students with diverse backgrounds and interests, to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, to excel in teaching, and to build our program. We will review applications from all humanistic and social science disciplines with particular interest in candidates who cover gaps in our current research areas (such as pre-1840s or late and post-Soviet literature and culture) and can help the department develop new insights in critical areas of research and teaching (such as, but not limited to, environmental, LGBTQ, race, performance, or post-colonial studies). The position begins July 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter, with a teaching load of four courses per year, including one in the Humanities Core.

The University of Central Asia seeks to fill in a full-time position at the Institute of Public Policy and Administration. In your role as a Research Assistant, you will be contributing to IPPA’s research and training projects in the area of economic and social studies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Research Fellow is expected to carry out the following duties:
  • Assist IPPA project staff in its various functions, including project support, document drafting and research assistance;
  • Work with financial reporting programs;
  • Collect and process qualitative and quantitative information related to the economic and social development of the Central Asian countries through desk research and relevant communications with national and international stakeholders;
  • Draft research papers and reports as required;
  • Update material on a regular basis for the University’s electronic library and databases;
  • Assist IPPA staff with different logistical and organizational activities.
