In 2025, the Working Group on Cinema and Television (WGCTV) is committed to subsidizing graduate students working in film and media studies who are attending the ASEEES convention for the first time or who have no local institutional resources for travel support. We anticipate that we will be able to fund, on a competitive basis, 3 awards of $300 each.
Eligibility
- MA and PhD students from all backgrounds working in film and media studies at any college or university
- Applicants must be session participants (panel, roundtable, or lightning round) in the convention program to apply.
- Recipients of a Graduate Student Travel Grant cannot receive the WGCTV grant for the same convention.
Deadline
October 10, 2025 (All applicants will be notified of their status by early November)

About WGCTV
Founded in 1991, WGCTV is a professional organization of film scholars and critics dedicated to the study of cinema and television of Russia, Eastern Europe, and the independent states of the former Soviet Union.
The goals of WGCTV are to facilitate and improve the research and teaching of the area’s cinema and television and to advance multicultural understanding. WGCTV is dedicated to serving its members’ professional needs and preservation of film and television heritage of the region. Activities of the group include an annual business meeting and coordination of professional communication.
