The U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, is one of the nation’s premier liberal arts colleges with approximately 4,400 students. Located in the scenic Hudson River Valley, some 50 miles from New York City, West Point is a singular institution with a storied history. It is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. Established in 1802, its mission is to educate, train, and inspire cohorts of leaders for service in the U.S. Army. The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and the Department of History at the United States Military seek TWO Postdoctoral Fellows and ONE Research Assistant Professor who share these values and wish to join our outstanding faculty.  These positions are open to junior scholars who received their doctorates after 31 December 2017. Each appointment is for thirteen months, may be renewable for up to two additional years, and includes full benefits. Appointments will begin on or after 24 June 2024 and will hold the academic rank of Assistant Professor. Successful candidates will be part of the Resnick Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and the Department of History. Each will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate level and for production of a significant scholarly project. Postdoctoral Fellow in Mass Atrocity Studies, Resnick Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies

The Fellow must have expertise in Holocaust/Genocide/Atrocity/Human Rights Studies and the history of a region of the world (Africa, East Asia, North America, Latin American, Middle East, South Asia, European, or Russian/Central Asia History). The Fellow will teach a regional World History survey course or an introductory survey of the history of the United States Army and possibly an advanced undergraduate seminar in the candidate’s area(s) of specialty pertaining to Holocaust/Genocide/Mass Atrocity/Human Rights Studies. Postdoctoral Fellow in History, Resnick Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies

The Fellow in History will contribute to a large study on historical narratives of extremism in the United States with a particular emphasis on the history of race relations in the US Armed Forces. The Fellow will teach an American History survey and/or an introductory survey of the history of the United States Army. Research Assistant Professor in Race/Gender Studies, Resnick Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies

The Research Assistant Professor must have expertise in the history of race and/or gender in American or Comparative/Regional World History studies. The successful candidate will teach an American History or a Regional World History survey course; an elective course in Race, Ethnicity, Nation, and Gender; and possibly an advanced undergraduate seminar in the candidate’s area(s) of specialty. The Assistant Professor is also expected to contribute to the Center’s ongoing research projects.
