The Department of Russian at Bowdoin College invites applications for a
one-year visiting lecturer position in the 2020-2021 academic year. The
Department seeks a candidate who would welcome the opportunity to
contribute to a small but vibrant and growing Russian program both
inside and out of the classroom. Applicants should be trained in the
latest methods of foreign language pedagogy and should be able to show
evidence of excellence in teaching. Bowdoin provides conference travel
support as well as competitive internal funding for research and other
professional development.
The successful candidate will teach five courses over the academic year:
these may include language at various levels, content-based advanced
language courses and/or literature and culture courses taught in
English. Candidates must have native or near-native proficiency in both
Russian and English. Ph.D. in Russian language and literature is
preferred; ABD candidates considered.
