The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University is seeking Part-Time Instructor(s) to teach 4-credit section(s) of Russian 101 and 201 in the Fall 2022 semester, which begins August 29, 2022 (appointment begins on August 22, 2022). Offer is contingent upon sufficient enrollment.

RUS 101 – Russian I Introductory proficiency-based course which prepares students to understand, speak, read, and write in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in Russian.

RUS 201 – Russian III Continuing proficiency-based course which refines and expands previously acquired linguistic skills in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in Russian.

Job: Teaching Associate in Russian Studies (University of Nottingham)

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver and contribute to non-language/content modules at all levels of undergraduate study. They will also be required to undertake Russian language teaching at all levels of undergraduate study. The successful candidate will also offer pastoral support to students and take an active role in teaching-related administration duties.

Applicants must have completed, or be close to submission of a PhD (or equivalent) in relevant subject area by start date of post, and have native or near-native competence in spoken and written Russian and English. As well as teaching experience at undergraduate level.

Georgetown’s Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies (CERES) in the Walsh School of Foreign Service houses one of the nation’s preeminent Master’s degree programs and hosts a rich program of events on the region.

The Director of Academic Programs is responsible for all academic advising, academic program development and recruiting activities in CERES. They manage CERES admissions and recruitment, coordinate with the CERES Director and CERES faculty in program and curriculum development, and develop outreach activities related to alumni and other stakeholder groups.

Acad. Job: Assistant Professor of Russian (Middlebury College)

The Department of Russian invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Russian, tenure-track, to begin in Fall 2023. The position entails teaching Russian language at all levels and courses in English on Russian culture and literature. Research specialization is open; we especially encourage applications from scholars interested in teaching topics relating to empire, post-coloniality, gender, race or ethnicity, and who can help make our curriculum more inclusive of marginalized perspectives and experiences. Applicants should demonstrate an ability to teach Russian language, literature and culture, possess native or near-native fluency in Russian and English, and have experience and great enthusiasm for teaching language at the undergraduate level. The typical teaching load will be 2 courses in the fall semester, 2 courses in the spring semester, plus 1 Winter Term course in every other year, teaching the four-week intensive continuation of Beginning Russian. The new colleague will also have the opportunity to contribute to the college-wide curriculum, including teaching a first-year seminar.
