We are interested in building a list of candidates to contact when needed, but we also do have an immediate need to staff a few courses for this upcoming fall semester (2017). The successful candidate will be expected to teach 3-4 sections of the same course. Below is a list of some of the courses the successful candidate might teach:

ERU 309 Russian Culture (3) (In English) An interdisciplinary course designed to acquaint students with Russian culture and life in Russia today.

ERU 310 The Literature of Russia (3) Survey of Russian culture from a literary and cinematographic perspective.

ERU 363 Russian and Soviet Film and Literature (3) A comparative approach to selected 20th century Soviet works of fiction, poetry, drama, and film.

The Russian Area Studies Committee and the Department of Foreign Languages at Clemson University invite applications for an Instructor of Russian Language. This is a one-year, part-time appointment with a possibility of renewal, pending budgetary approval. Duties consist of teaching three sections of introductory and intermediate Russian with a lab component.

An M.A. in Russian or Russian Linguistics is required as are 1) native or ACTFL superior proficiency in Russian and English and 2) teaching experience at the university level, preferably at an Anglophone institution.

The Department of German, Nordic, and Slavic of the University of Wisconsin–Madison seeks to fill a vacancy for a Lecturer in Russian for Fall 2017, with the possibility of extension to Spring 2018. Course load is 3 courses per semester. Salary commensurate with experience. In Fall 2017 the successful candidate will teach the following courses: Vladimir Nabokov: Russian and American Writings [in English]; History of Russian Culture [in Russian, for students above the level of fourth-year Russian]; and Third-Year Russian. Ph.D. in hand strongly preferred, but ABD applicants will be considered. The instructor would have to teach first- and second-year Russian, as well as a 400-level literature course in translation. The Russian Program at Portland State University’s Department of World Languages and Literatures invites applications for a renewable one-year position as instructor teaching undergraduate Russian language at .72 FTE. The position is for the academic year beginning September 16, 2017, and is renewable. Informational interviews will be conducted by Skype and possibly additional onsite interviews.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach 26 credits of undergraduate Russian language and culture courses from the beginning to advanced levels, according to the needs of the program (8 credits/.6666 FTE in fall, 10 credits/.8333 FTE in winter, and 8 credits/.6666 FTE in spring).
• Maintain regular office hours.
• Participate on program, departmental, college and/or university committees as assigned by the Chair and/or Section Head, and regularly attend faculty meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

– Master’s degree or equivalent in Russian language, literature, linguistics or related field.
– Experience teaching Russian at the college level.
– Native or near-native fluency in Russian and in English.

Preferred Qualifications

– ACTFL OPI training.
– Experience with and affinity for team teaching.
– Experience working with heritage speakers of Russian.
