Sumners Foundation Scholarships (SMU Dedman School of Law & Oklahoma City University School of Law)

The Sumners Foundation provides two types of scholarships

Scholarships for rising juniors for their junior and senior years at a Texas or Oklahoma College or University. Scholarships are $15,000/year for each of those last two years of undergraduate work ($30,000 total) to cover tuition, on-campus room and board, fees, and books. Students must be U.S. citizens and permanent residents of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Arkansas, or Kansas. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring of 2023 to be initially be applied in the fall of 2023.
FULL–RIDE law school scholarships at SMU Dedman School of Law and Oklahoma City University School of Law. Students must be starting law school in the fall of 2023. Application codes must be obtained from the law schools. Students must be U.S. citizens and permanent residents of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Arkansas, or Kansas.

National Endowment for the Humanities Scholar in Residence (Center for Jewish History)

Call for Applications for the 2023-2024 Academic Year

Through the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) the Center for Jewish History (the Center) invites applications for an NEH Scholar in Residence that will support original research conducted at the Center. Applications are welcome from scholars working in a broad range of fields within the humanities and social sciences. The application deadline is December 15, 2022 for a residency from July 2023 through June 2024.

Postdoctoral Fellowship “Russian Studies at the Margins: Migration in the Post-Soviet Borderlands” (Arizona State University)

As part of the new project “Russian Studies at the Margins: Migration in the Post-Soviet Borderlands,” Arizona State University’s Melikian Center for Russian, Eurasian and East European Studies invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship with an anticipated start date of October 3, 2022 through June 30, 2023. The application deadline is September 25.

The fellowship is open to early-career scholars who received their terminal degree between May 2017 and July 2022, whose work combines regional focus with global relevance. The fellow’s primary responsibility will be to lead research, writing and testing of curricular materials for high school and community college students on migration and borderland communities in the former Soviet Union (case studies focus on Ukraine/Russia, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus). Post-doctoral appointments at ASU do not offer tenure. The pro-rated salary for the 7.5-month position is set at $41,667.

Early Slavic ESSA Travel Grant to ASEEES 2022

The Graduate Student Travel Award Committee of the Early Slavic Studies Association is seeking applications for a $300 grant to assist with the travel expenses of a graduate student who will be presenting a paper in person in the early Slavic field at the National Convention of the ASEEES in Chicago in November 2022. Interested graduate students may find the application here.

Postdoctoral Fellowships: Institute for Advanced Study, School of Historical Studies

The Institute is an independent private institution founded in 1930 to create a community of scholars focused on intellectual inquiry, free from teaching and other university obligations. Scholars from around the world come to the Institute to pursue their research. Candidates of any nationality may apply for a single term or a full academic year. Scholars may apply for a stipend, but those with sabbatical funding, other grants, retirement funding, or other means are also invited to apply for a non-stipendiary membership. Open to all fields of historical research, the School of Historical Studies’ principal interests is the history of western, near eastern and Asian civilizations, with particular emphasis on Greek and Roman civilization, the history of Europe (medieval, early modern, and modern), the Islamic world, East Asian studies, art history, the history of science, and late modern history. Support is available each year for one scholar in music studies. A Ph.D. (or equivalent) and influential publications are required.

Digital Scholar Fellowship (Consortium on Forced Migration)

The Consortium on Forced Migration, Displacement, and Education (CFMDE) announces a call for applications for a Digital Scholar Fellowship. CFMDE is interested in hosting scholars with refugee or displaced backgrounds to participate in a virtual “residency” program during the 2022-23 academic year. Digital Scholars will give a series of guest lectures in Vassar classes and for a wider public (partial fellowship) or co-teach a class with a Vassar faculty partner (full fellowship). This initiative is being piloted in collaboration with the Institute for International Education, which is helping to facilitate connections to scholars. We are also seeking to connect with scholars outside of the IIE network.
