BBA IP – Prague, Czech Republic, Summer 2018

Program Liaisons are an integral part of the BBA Short Term International Programs (BBA SIP) and are responsible for assisting the BBA SIP Program Coordinator and faculty leader(s) in delivering study abroad programs that meet the academic and cultural objectives of the BBA International Programs Office.

Purpose of the Position: One liaison will be hired to assist with the implementation and assessment of either the Management Program in Prague (or) International Accounting Program in Prague. The program liaison will handle administrative work associated with the program, serve as an on-site program coordinator, and act as a cultural ambassador. As part of this responsibility, the liaison will work closely with BBA IP staff, faculty leaders, and partner university administrators. Graduate Program: Slavic Dept. (U. of Pittsburgh)

The University of Pittsburgh Slavic Department invites applications to its graduate program, which provides a full range of courses, with particular strengths in the study of contemporary Russian culture, Russian/Soviet cinema, and Russian literature.  Their program has supported dissertations in such diverse areas as contemporary Russian prose, Soviet postmodern culture, Thaw cinema, 1930s-40s Soviet civic poetry, prison culture of the Belomor Canal, post-Soviet philosophy, the Soviet anekdot, and Stagnation-era television serials.  Financial aid (both non-teaching fellowships and teaching assistantships) is available to qualified applicants. Graduate Program: MA in REEES (UT)

The Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies is a two-year multidisciplinary program that offers advanced training for those qualified students who seek an integrated knowledge of the language, history, society and culture of the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Eurasia. This graduate degree offers the opportunity to create an individually tailored program. Upon graduation, students will have an extensive understanding of the country or countries of specialization, including a working knowledge of one of the region’s languages. The program primarily serves students preparing for professional careers and those seeking an M.A. before pursuing a professional career trajectory or Ph.D. in a particular discipline.

This region of the world covers over one-sixth of the globe and comprises countries, which differ enormously in language, ethnicity, religion, culture, political history and economic development. Since the mid-1980s, the process of reform, collapse and reconstruction in the region has led to a heightened interest in the area and the need for serious and scholarly understanding of the region. It is the mission of the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies to facilitate such understanding.

Academic Job: Visiting Humanities Fellow (DePaul)

External Faculty Fellowships: Visiting Humanities Fellows. All applicants must have a Ph.D., and research projects must be in the humanities. International applications will be considered. Fellowships may run from September 2018 to June 2019, or from January 2019 to June 2019. During their tenure, Visiting Fellows are required to make an intellectual contribution to the DePaul community and participate in the programming and activities of the DHC and the university.

DePaul University is especially interested in applications that involve a project around the theme of “Filth,” broadly construed. All applications regardless of topic will be considered, but preference will be given to applicants that draw connections between their proposed project and the 2018-19 DHC theme, “Filth.” NB: The DHC will be hosting events that include, e.g., investigations of environmental ethics, LGBTQ identity, race, pornography, drug usage, radioactivity, etc.​ They are interested, that is, in interdisciplinary, creative, innovative projects that take up the topic.

Graduate Programs: Slavic Language and Literature (U. of Washington)

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Washington invites applications to its M.A. and Ph.D. programs in Literature and Slavic Linguistics starting in Fall, 2018.

UW seeks students who have had at least four years of Russian language training and other related coursework (although those with less will still be considered). They also welcome applicants who have completed an M.A. in Slavic Languages and Literatures (or related fields). Please note they require a Skype interview, conducted partly in the relevant language, as part of the application process.
