The U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, is one of the nation’s premier liberal arts colleges with approximately 4,400 students. Located in the scenic Hudson River Valley, some 50 miles from New York City, West Point is a singular institution with a storied history. It is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. Established in 1802, its mission is to educate, train, and inspire cohorts of leaders for service in the U.S. Army. The institution is committed to values of inclusion, diversity, innovation, creativity, leader development, and other Army values of duty, selfless service, honor, and integrity.

The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and the Department of History at the United States Military seek TWO Postdoctoral Fellows and ONE Research Assistant Professor who share these values and wish to join our outstanding faculty.  These positions are open to junior scholars who received their doctorates after 31 December 2017. Each appointment is for thirteen months, may be renewable for up to two additional years, and includes full benefits. Appointments will begin on or after 24 June 2024 and will hold the academic rank of Assistant Professor. Successful candidates will be part of the Resnick Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and the Department of History. Each will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate level and for production of a significant scholarly project. Summer Institute at University of Iowa on Translation Across the Curriculum

Mark your calendars! The 2024 Summer Institute on Translation Across the Curriculum will be held by the Center for Translation and Global Literacy at the University of Iowa (CTGL) and American Translation and Interpreting Studies Association (ATISA) at the University of Iowa, Iowa City on June 5-9, 2024.

The 2024 CTGL-ATISA summer institute, called The Undergraduate Curriculum: Programs, Courses, Activities, invites those constituencies in higher education that are in a position to promote translation as a global literacy skill and that want to incorporate translation into their teaching (e.g., instructors of world languages and literatures, comparative literature, creative writing, and general education) to participate. New Research Fellowships (Center for Jewish History)

Deadline: February 19, 2024

The Center for Jewish History is proud to announce the creation of an expanded fellowship program. The program features four new endowed 10-month fellowships in addition to one existing 12-month fellowship and two short-term fellowships. The seven fellowships constitute the nucleus of a projected Institute for Advanced Jewish Historical Research.

The fellowships will support original research using the collections of the Center’s five partners: American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, and YIVO Institute. Preference will be given to those candidates who draw on the archival and library resources of more than one partner institution. The fellowships are open to a range of senior scholars, early career scholars, and advanced graduate students who have completed all the requirements (i.e., coursework, exams, dissertation proposal) for the doctoral degree apart from the dissertation.

Our mission is to publish scholarly, cutting-edge content dedicated to Hungarian studies across the humanities and social science disciplines—including original articles, book reviews, and review articles.

Guest Editors Wanted (Russian Language Journal)

Deadline: September 29, 2023

Russian Language Journal is entertaining proposals for the special issue of Volume vol 74/issue 2 (printed issue), to be published in December 2024. Thematic issues of Russian Language Journal focus on areas of current interest and are an excellent venue to bring together in one issue numerous approaches to a methodology or an issue in Slavic linguistics and language teaching. We are particularly interested in publishing a special issue on Slavic linguistics, literature-language intersections, corpus linguistics, digital studies, sociolinguistics, and language acquisition, decolonization in Slavic Studies, but other proposals will also be considered.

Writing Across Boundaries Program

To integrate new research and perspectives from underrepresented regions and groups in English-language publishing outlets in Russian, Eurasian and East European Studies, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Melikian Center for Russian, Eurasian and East European Studies at Arizona State University, and University of Amsterdam are inviting applications for their Writing Across Boundaries Program. Doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and other early career scholars from all disciplines in the arts and humanities and the social sciences are encouraged to apply.
