The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Union College announces an opening for an adjunct instructor position in Russian language beginning in fall 2021. The successful candidate will teach one first year Russian language course in fall term (Russian 100) and one first year language course in the spring term 2022 (Russian 102); it is anticipated that the Department will continue to require an adjunct in future years. Candidates must have native or near-native Russian language ability, training and/or experience in modern methods of foreign language pedagogy, experience teaching Russian language and familiarity with the American university system. Applicants should hold an MA or PhD in Russian. To apply, please forward a cover letter and CV with a list of references to Professor Kristin Bidoshi at bidoshik@union.edu . Fellowship: Graduate Women in Public Policy (Washington DC)

The Congressional Fellowships on Women and Public Policy program is now accepting applications until the deadline on June 3rd. The program places fellows in the Washington, D.C. offices of Members of Congress and congressional committees. Additionally, fellows meet once a week at issue seminars with women’s advocates, congressional staff, researchers, and lobbyists. This program is unique—it is the only graduate-level fellowship program on Capitol Hill focused on women.

Nominations are now open for the BASEES Women’s Forum Prizes. Nominations for the book and article/chapter prizes should be submitted by 1st July 2021. Please do submit your eligible publications for consideration!

The Forum will offer three prize awards this coming year, for scholarly works of high quality either produced by a woman or which furthers knowledge about gender and diversity relevant to the East European, Russian and Eurasian region, in the following categories:

Job: Lithuanian Literature Deputy Examiner (IB)

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is currently seeking an experienced individual to take on the role of Deputy Examiner Responsible for its Lithuanian Literature course. The position of Deputy Examiner Responsible is part-time, involves no relocation and is usually undertaken in addition to existing work commitments. The post holder is involved in the authoring and marking of examination papers for students studying Lithuanian Literature at 18 years of age during the IB’s May examination session. The majority of the work can be carried out online via the IB’s secure systems.
