Internship: Library of Congress Junior Fellow Program 2025 Russian Cataloging

The Library of Congress (Germanic and Slavic Division, Russia Section) invites applications to our Junior Fellow Program (JFP) Internship. We encourage you to share widely amongst your students and colleagues who are still enrolled in school. This position is open to undergraduate and graduate students, including recent graduates within the entire year of 2024. We seek an individual with expertise in Russian language, history, and culture. This is a paid, 10 week internship at the GS-03 level. The program will run from May 19-July 25, 2025.

CFP: Baltic Studies Teaching and Learning Workshop (Wingate University)

Deadline: December 15, 2024

The 3rd Baltic Studies Teaching and Learning Workshop will be hosted at Wingate University, Wingate, NC (USA), March 13-14, 2025. We invite proposals in the humanities and social sciences from scholars and students interested in the Baltic region, broadly defined. We also encourage work from scholars investigating the intersection of Baltic Studies and Central-Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, and Central Asia. The workshop is an intensive setting with each presenter receiving extensive feedback on their work. We seek to connect early scholars and students with seasoned scholars in the discipline, providing a space for mentorship and critical feedback. Graduate students are especially encouraged to apply, and small travel grants exist to support their work. We also strongly encourage work related to pedagogy and teaching: how do we teach Baltic Studies to the next generation of scholars? The deadline to submit is Dec. 15, 2024. CFP: 31st Annual REECAS Northwest Conference (University of Washington)

REECAS Northwest, the annual ASEEES northwest regional conference for Russian, East European, and Central Asian Studies (REECAS) will take place April 10-12, 2025 at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.

The REECAS Northwest Conference welcomes students, faculty, independent scholars, and language educators from the United States and abroad. Proposals on all subjects connected to the Slavic, East European, and Eurasian regions are encouraged. The conference hosts panels on a variety of topics and disciplines including political science, history, literature, linguistics, anthropology, culture, migration studies, gender studies, LGBTQ studies, film studies and more.

Critical Languages Scholarships

Priority funding deadline: January 31, 2025

Critical Languages Institute (CLI) including study abroad programs in Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Macedonia, Poland, and Uzbekistan!

For the Summer 2025 Cycle, CLI is offering its first year and some second-year programs online – Persian, Turkish, and Russian. Online programs with a study abroad option in Albanian, Armenian, BCS, Polish, Ukrainian, Uzbek, Russian, and Macedonian. Finally, 2nd-Year and advanced programs in Albanian, Armenian, BCS, Polish, Ukrainian, Uzbek, and Russian are available with the newest addition of Daugavpils, Latvia for 3rd-6th Year Russian applicants.

CLI’s range of programs are supported by scholarships available for every type of learner.

The Department of History at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in the history of the modern Russian empire, the Soviet Union, and/or post-Soviet Eurasia. The standard teaching load is 2/2. Responsibilities include the teaching of one survey course on Russian/Soviet history and courses related to your fields of expertise. We welcome applications from candidates whose work aligns with our departmental mission of historical research, teaching, and public service as described on our website (https://history.unc.edu/about-us/) and complements our existing strengths. Ideally, the candidate would enhance UNC-Chapel Hill’s long-standing tradition in Russian/Soviet studies and actively contribute to the mission of the university’s Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies.
