The Department of Slavic and Baltic Languages and Literatures and the School of Literatures, Culture Studies and Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Chicago announce a search to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Russian literature and culture. The appointment is expected to begin on August 16, 2019.
The university is interested in hiring a versatile and interdisciplinary scholar, whose work is grounded in a theoretical perspective and who can bring cutting-edge experimental approaches to the department. Specifically seeking candidates who specialize in modern Russian literature and culture. Primary or secondary expertise in film, visual arts, cultural studies, environmental humanities, medical humanities, or digital humanities is welcome. Duties include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advising majors, masters and doctoral students, pursuing an active research agenda, and contributing to the university and community through service activities. The standard teaching load is two courses each semester (four courses per academic year).
The Department of Slavic and Baltic Languages and Literatures offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Polish and Russian Literatures and Cultures as well as coursework in Jewish Studies and Lithuanian language and culture. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Russian Literature or Russian Film or a related field by the starting date of August 16, 2019.
• Native or near-native competence in Russian is required.
