Associate Professorship (or Professorship) in Czech
Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, Wellington Square, Oxford
Grade 36S: £47,263 – £63,463 p.a.
The Faculty are seeking to appoint an Associate Professorship (or Professorship) of Czech.

The Associate Professor will engage in advanced study and research in Czech language and literature, by offering high-quality tutorials, classes, lectures, and supervision at both undergraduate and graduate level.

They will give, under the direction of the Faculty Board, no fewer than 36 lectures or classes a year and will undertake six hours of tutorial or equivalent teaching for colleges per week; this will be shared across colleges with students studying Czech options, although it is anticipated that teaching for University College will take priority.

They will be expected to participate in the undergraduate admissions exercise in the College and Faculty, to include conducting admissions interviews and related activities at University College

Applicants must possess: native or near-native standard competence in both English and Czech and knowledge of Slovak is also required. They should have received a doctoral degree by the advertised closing date for this position, or, in exceptional circumstances, have submitted a completed doctoral dissertation for examination by this date. Applicants must possess a good Masters-equivalent degree in a subject involving Czech language and literature
