Study Abroad: American Councils for International Education (Russia)

American Councils for International Education is now accepting applications for its summer 2019 study abroad offerings in Russia. Scholarship funding and U.S. academic credit is available to participants on this program.

Business Russian Language & Internship (BRLI) program

Hosts:  Moscow International University – Moscow, Russia

            Herzen University – St. Petersburg, Russia

            Al-Farabi Kazakh National University – Almaty, Kazakhstan

Dates: June 6 – August 8, 2019 (Russia); June 11 – August 11, 2019 (Almaty)

Eligibility: Students 18 and over. Minimum 4 semesters of Russian experience. Minimum 2.7 GPA.

Program Features:

  • 15 – 20 hours per week of intensive coursework in business Russian language, commerce, communication, and etiquette
  • 15 – 20 hours per week at a Russian-language internship
  • Internship disciplines include business & innovation, investment, marketing, journalism, STEM, and more
  • Cultural activities and extended regional field study excursions led by U.S. resident directors
  • Housing with carefully-selected host families or in university dormitories
  • Pre-departure orientation in Washington, DC and in-country orientation upon arrival
  • Comprehensive health, accident, and evacuation insurance for all participants while overseas
  • U.S. undergraduate and graduate academic credit in Russian language and regional studies from Bryn Mawr College

Financial Aid

All applicants to American Councils study abroad programs are eligible to apply for financial aid, including a Diversity Scholarship, a Need-Based Scholarship, and program-specific scholarships. Please see the above link for more information.

Past program participants have successfully applied additional outside sources of financial aid, including Fund for Education Abroad Scholarships and Gilman Scholarships  to further reduce their out-of-pocket costs.

The deadline to apply for all four programs is February 15, 2019.
