Study Abroad Spring Language Programs (American Councils)

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, American Councils is offering its Spring 2021 language programs as both overseas and online options. Applicants interested in remote study abroad can connect with host country faculty and peers through one of the virtual opportunities available for the Spring 2021 semester. Online Programs: Full-Time or Part-Time* 

Advanced Russian Language & Area Studies Program (RLASP) 

Balkan Language Initiative (BLI): Albanian, Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian 

Eurasian Regional Language Program (ERLP): Dari, Farsi, Georgian, Pashto, Romanian, Tajiki, Ukrainian, Uzbek 

*Full-Time programs feature approximately 240 total contact hours over the course of the semester and award 16 undergraduate/15 graduate credits. Part-Time programs feature approximately 112 total contact hours over the course of the semester and award 8 undergraduate/10 graduate credits.   

The application deadline for spring 2021 programs is Thursday, October 15th.   

Online AC Study Abroad programs feature: 

-Both synchronous and asynchronous instruction 

-Remote meetings with conversation partners to provide opportunities for informal target language practice and connections with locals 

-Virtual cultural activities and excursions to places of historical and cultural importance  

-Academic credit from Bryn Mawr College upon successful completion of the program 

-Reduced program fee from overseas programs; scholarships available 

Please note that in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, American Councils Study Abroad is regularly reviewing the status of its overseas programs for spring 2021. This review includes close monitoring of the most current information available from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassies, and overseas staff and partners. Protecting the health and safety of participants, faculty and staff is American Council’s first priority in all decisions regarding program status or content. We will finalize our decision on overseas program status no later than November 30, 2020. Should the overseas program not be feasible, all accepted applicants will be invited to join the online program.
