C4ADS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing data-driven analysis and evidence-based reporting on global conflict and transnational security issues.
We use cutting-edge technologies to manage, integrate, and analyze disparate data from diverse languages, regions, and sources, incorporating our own field research from conflict zones and fragile states. We seek to engage with local and international audiences and produce compelling analysis on conflict and security issues. In doing so, we fill a critical gap left by traditional public sector and profit-driven institutions.
At C4ADS, people are our gold. We value the perspectives, skills, and interests that our interns bring to the organization. You won’t make coffee or arrange conference room furniture. You will work alongside staff on their projects and receive one-on-one mentorship to maximize your professional development. Our Executive Director will lead you through C4ADS’ Analyst Intern Training Program (AITP), teaching you about our mission and how to apply analytical techniques, methodologies, datasets, and tools (e.g. Palantir, Windward) to your work. Throughout the program, you will be encouraged to take initiative and leverage the educational opportunities at C4ADS to shape your internship experience. We currently offer three internship tracks: the investigative analyst internship, the data science internship, and the software engineer internship.
The Remote C4ADS Internship
These are extraordinary times. While C4ADS’ internship program traditionally features interns working as one team together in our office with our analytical staff, social distancing measures imposed in most states as a result of the COVID pandemic will prevent us from following this practice. This internship will be fully remote, and may differ from past intern classes in some respects; however, it will feature the same instruction, rigorous expectations, and integration with our analytical teams that past C4ADS interns have received.
Compensation
Interns may receive a discretionary stipend of up to $7,200 per semester to help offset the cost of participating in an internship program.
Eligibility
- Current undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates are welcome to apply.
- C4ADS offers full-time (35-40 hrs/wk) internships. Part-time schedules may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
- Applicants must have authorization to work in the United States. C4ADS does not sponsor work authorizations for interns. Non-U.S. citizen applicants should consult available resources to understand and prepare all necessary documentation prior to pursuing an internship opportunity at C4ADS.
- Selected interns will be expected to work remotely for the term. C4ADS will supply interns with the equipment necessary for participation in the remote internship.
