Acad. Job: Researcher with focus on Gender Equity in Public Health Data Systems (Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health)

Candidate sought to fill a Researcher role (funding pending) in the Department of Health, Behavior & Society at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The candidate will be part of the Gender Equity Core of the Data for Health Initiative, a global project focused on improving public health data systems. While funding is pending for this project, it is highly likely. Funding will be through March 2023 with the possibility of a two-year renewal.


Job tasks:
• Design and write content for a webinar series on gender equity in health data systems. The target audience includes low- and middle-income country governments, non-government organizations, and global partners.
• Participate in research studies focused on improving gender equity in health data, such as civil registries and vital statistics, non-communicable disease data, and other population-level health outcomes.
• Participate in capacity-building missions focused on gender equity in health data, with international travel as permitted in the COVID-19 pandemic context.
• Contribute to donor reports.
• Lead and/or contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
• Assist with dissemination activities (including a Core website, newsletter, social media, presentations, etc.).
• Other tasks as required by the project.
Required qualifications:
• PhD, DrPH, or similar professional degree in public health, medicine, sociology, gender studies, psychology, or another related field.
• Training and research experience in gender, gender equity
• Project management or director experience
• International experience, particularly in low and middle-income countries
• Experience writing reports for funders and peer-reviewed manuscripts
• Willingness to travel internationally (pending COVID restrictions)
• Great writing skills
• Ability to juggle several tasks and great organization skills
Preferred qualifications:
• Quantitative data analysis skills
• Qualitative data collection and analysis skills
• Experience with large data sets
• Experience with community-based participatory research
• Proficiency with multiple languages
The candidate will report to Michelle Kaufman, PhD, Associate Professor, and will work with a large team of project staff and co-investigators.
