Program Information

The Alfa Fellowship Program is an 11-month, fully funded professional development opportunity in Russia for emerging American, British, and German leaders in arts/culture management, business, economics, human development, journalism, law, public policy, and other fields. Fellows gain competitive skills for the global workplace plus experience the business, policy, and cultural environments of Russia and the region. This unparalleled opportunity has enabled over 200 young professionals to elevate their careers since 2004. The program includes language training, seminars, and an extended professional assignment. Trips to cities in the region are interspersed throughout the program year. Fellows receive a monthly stipend, program-related travel costs, accommodation, and insurance. Eligibility

To be eligible for the Alfa Fellowship Program, candidates must be early to mid-career professionals from the U.S., U.K., or Germany with a bachelor’s degree and relevant professional experience in arts/culture management, business, economics, human development, journalism, law, public policy, or other fields.

In addition, candidates should:

  • Have a demonstrated interest in Russia and the region with clearly defined career trajectories
  • Be committed to being active contributors to an international network
  • Have previous study of a second language, preferably Russian

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduate degree related to desired field of work placement
  • Outstanding professional achievement and academic qualifications
  • Active involvement in community and/or public service
  • Evidence of leadership potential
  • Russian language experience is preferred, however not required, at the time of application
