CFP: AATSEEL 2024

Deadline: July 1, 2023

The American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages (AATSEEL) would like to remind colleagues about the Call for Papers for the 2024 conference in Las Vegas, which is available here:

In addition to regular conference panels and events, the program also includes panel streams. The streams promote greater cohesion among conference panels and foster a broader dialogue throughout the conference. The result is a series of mini-conferences within the framework of our larger conference.  All conference attendees are welcome to attend stream panels, but participants in a stream are expected to attend all of the panels in their stream.

The stream topics for 2024 are:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Translation in the Teaching and Learning of Slavic Languages and CulturesBeyond Horizon: Alternatives and Transgressions in Twentieth- and Twenty-First-Century Polish Culture Corpus-Based Investigations of Russian to Inform Pedagogical PracticesDeath and Dying in Eurasian CultureDecolonizing the Russian ClassicsReimagining the Teaching of Slavic and East European Literatures and CulturesSubversive Sexualities in Slavic, Eastern European, and Eurasian Literatures and Cultures

Full descriptions of the 2024 Streams are available here: https://www.aatseel.org/program/2024-call-for-streams/2024-streams

All current AATSEEL members are eligible to submit paper proposals to any one of the streams listed above. Proposals should be submitted through the regular submission website (http://www.aatseel.org/cfp_main) as an “Individual Paper” with the title of the stream selected in the drop-down menu on the proposal form. Please do not send submissions directly to the stream organizers. Please submit your proposals by July 1, 2023.

When submitting a proposal, please be mindful that doing so constitutes a professional commitment to attend the conference in Las Vegas, February 15-18, 2024. All proposal authors and panelists must be current AATSEEL members. The 2022-23 membership year ends on June 30th, 2023. Similarly, all participants in the AATSEEL conference are required to register for the conference by December 15, 2023. Online registration opens on October 1, 2023.
