The postholder will conduct research into Ukrainian history and its underlying methodologies and teach it at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The postholder will maintain a track record of high-quality research publications; plan, develop, submit and secure external research grant funding; contribute to the School’s interdisciplinary research culture and environment, including its research centres and seminar series; engage with non-academic actors, communities and stakeholders, including the media and the public, to disseminate and secure impact from research; supervise postgraduate research students to timely submission and completion; and provide academic and pastoral support and advice to undergraduate and postgraduate students, serving as a Personal Tutor.

About you

The postholder may specialise in any period from the seventeenth century to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Preference may be given to a candidate interested in the early modern period.

In addition to teaching their own modules, it is also expected that the postholder will contribute to teaching relevant courses on the history of Poland-Lithuania, the Habsburgs, and the Russian Empire.

  • A short statement (2 pages maximum) of how the applicants meets the person specification
  • A maximum of two pieces of research for the selection panel to examine
  • An outline of a proposed 15-credit (10-week) undergraduate module in Ukrainian history that you would like to develop and teach
