NATO Field and Simulation Program (Simon Frazer University)

We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2024 NATO Field School and Simulation Program. This program is run by Simon Fraser University’s Department of Political Science in collaboration with the NATO Defense College in Rome and Canada’s Joint Delegation to NATO.  It offers a unique opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students from NATO member states to immerse themselves in the fields of international relations, security, and diplomacy while embarking on an unforgettable experience across Europe, including unique and exciting destinations in Latvia, Belgium, Italy, and more!


During the 7-week summer program, students will:

  • Interact with professionals across Europe, from junior officials, soldiers, and interns, all the way to senior officials, generals, and ambassadors
  • Learn through hands-on engagement, experience, observation, practice, and professional interactions with security, defence, and diplomacy practitioners
  • Gain experience in political strategy, foreign policy formation, politico-military coordination, multilateral negotiation, strategic communication, cyber and information security, and media relations
  • Receive specialized negotiation, diplomatic, and simulation training from senior NATO officials
